Humane Education
Welcome to the Humane Education page! At North Bay Animal Services, we are all about compassion for both people and animals. We believe that an empathetic world is a better place to live and that empathy is a skill best taught to children when they are young. The mission of our Humane Education Program is to help students acquire knowledge about animal-related problems, to encourage students to think deeply about animal welfare and to support students in making compassionate and responsible choices about animals.
Classroom lessons will be aligned with Common Core Standards and will be tailored to individual grade levels. Each lesson will give children an opportunity to collaborate and communicate as well as to complete a written assignment or an art project.
Some of the topics covered in our Humane Education Program are: The Needs of a Pet, Bite Prevention and Safety Around Animals, Animal Feelings and Emotions, and The Importance of Spaying and Neutering Your Pets. In addition to our classroom visits, we will have opportunities for children to engage in animal-related projects through this website. Let’s make our world a kinder place!
